The ADN RN program has a strong foundation in the sciences and general education. The program emphasizes the use of the nursing process and critical thinking to make clinical nursing judgments and employs leadership principles. Clinical experiences are across the lifespan and in a variety of healthcare settings. The ADN program graduate has a basic foundation of nursing knowledge and skills for entry level practice. The learning experiences in the program are designed to encourage students to take responsibility for independent, self regulated, life long learning. The ADN RN preparation focuses on a strong medical surgical foundation, leadership skills and application of the nursing process in a variety of community based settings with patients across the life span. Upon completion of the ADN RN program, the graduate is eligible for the National Counsel Licensure Examination NCLEX RN for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. A.  Individuals who have documented military education and experience in healthcare occupations may be eligible for advanced placement into the LACCD nursing programs. The student must be enrolled and pay all fees. The current established theory and clinical course outlines, objectives, learning activities and recommended readings in the courses being challenged will be used. The examination criteria, theory and clinical, will be the same criteria currently established for the specific courses being challenged. The theory challenge examination must be passed at 7. The clinical portion must be passed as Satisfactory. If the clinical portion results in failure, the whole course being challenged must be taken. Theory, clinical and skills lab must be passed to receive a grade for the course.
